Conducting national IT examinations

Japan Information Technology Engineers Examination Center (JITEC)

About JITEC

The Information Technology Engineers Examination (ITEE) was first administered in 1969, and in 1970 it became a national examination under the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI, now, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry [METI]).

Japan Information Technology Engineers Examination Center (JITEC) is presently organized within IPA to administer the ITEE.

Since its commencement, the examination has played an important role in the development of IT engineers. IT has grown into one of the largest scale national examinations in Japan, with approximately 500,000 applicants each year. As of FY2022, the examination has been taken by over 22 million applicants, approximately 3.3 million of whom passed successfully.
